Books I read in February 2021

book 5 of 2021: The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab

4/5 stars
This was a really good book that I enjoyed. The storyline and plot was interesting but I wished there was more showing and letting the readers experience her years of being in places instead of just telling.

I do find some parts relatable. I found all of her love interests very fascinating, including the devil itself.

book 6 of 2021: Severance by Ling Ma

2/5 stars
Was an average book for me. The writing and setting of the story was good but I wished there was more to it. Was quite let down by the ending.

book 7 of 2021: The House of the Cerulean Sea

5/5 stars
Heartfelt. Tears. Warms the cockles of my heart. My love for kids just grew, oh such innocence ❤️.

Linus Baker, I love his character SO SO MUCH. Deep down I relate to him like a lot, really a lot. Being someone who's always introverted, who preferred to be in a safe space, but now especially the past 2 years, trying to put myself out there into the world, being brave and doing things that I hope can help me and the society.

The children, they also now have a special place in my heart. ❤️❤️

"To err is to be human, irrational or not. And while some mistake are bigger than other, if we learn from them, we become better people."

"Different doesn't mean bad. Being different is sometimes better than being the same as everyone else."

"There are moments in your life, moments when chances have to be taken. It's scary because there is always possibility of failure."

book 8 of 2021: Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson

3/5 stars
I love the short chapters of this book. It made me read faster and completed this book in a few hours. The writing was good too!

Most importantly the objective of this book plays the most significant role. Thanks for educating me on this. As someone who lives in an asian country and not educated enough about black lives all over the world, this has brought to light and educated me especially on the lives of young black girls.

book 9 of 2021: The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

5/5 stars
I'm speechless.... My heart ached and by the end of the book it was just devastating. Oh precious Patroclus 😭

“In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the helpless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood, like a hundred golden urns pouring out the sun.”

book 10 of 2021: Home body by Rupi Kaur

4/5 stars
This book came at a very timely manner which I need. It's a short read but I found it relatable on some of the poems and even uplifting on some.

“no one is qualified to decide your worth
you wake up and live your life every day
yours is the only opinion of you
that matters”
