book 2 of 2021: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I’ve learnt a lot from this book especially about nigerian culture, the transition of moving to a multi racial country from a perspective of a minority race person and surviving in a new country. The writing was good but there some words in dialog that I thought a person wouldn't say in real life. And I really got to learn a lot of new words in this book.

Other points:
1. How the education system is actually good in some countries
- people in Nigeria a third world country is struggling with that
- teachers go on strike because they are not getting paid by the government
- students go on strike because the teachers are not teaching

2. How someone’s hair (especially black/ africans in US) can impact whether they get a job
- what is wrong with having curly or afro or braided hair? will it impact their work?

3. Interracial relationship issues
- why do people of the same race want to condemn a person for being in a relationship with someone of another race?
- in the book there was a black guy who said to the black nigerian lady: “you ever wonder why he (white boyfriend) likes you looking all jungle like that?”

4. Racial issues
- people are not educated enough on racial issues
- how social class exist between races
- people think a certain race is more superior than another

5. Women in Nigeria have to resort to being mistresses or marrying people who are rich or people of power just to get a better life
- these women dont have the freedom to build their own career so that they can sustain their lives
- men were given more opportunity in the country which resulted to the women not having opportunities

My final rating is 3/5 as I think I probably have too much expectations and I was disappointed a little.
