Wanderlust

I've always been one who wants to travel and just not stay-put in the country that I'm from. Especially since I almost tried out everything that's I consider interesting in Singapore. I always have the urge (especially since 6 years ago) to travel and explore new places and countries.

During poly I went to 2 trips that weren't Malaysia. Since I was young and can't really travel on my own yet, I went to school trips instead. I just loved that the school gave us opportunity to travel and visit new places. During my poly years, I went to Taipei, Taiwan and Perth, Australia. I think I enjoyed both quite well since both had different environment and people around.

Then when I graduated from poly in 2016, I went to Seoul, South Korea for my grad trip. That trip was the first trip that I actually went on my own. Though tbh, it wasn't the best because we had quite strict budget that we had to keep to and we didn't do certain activity that we wanted.

The next trip that I went on my own was Bangkok in 2017. This trip was quite interesting as it was my first time travelling with Saj and also my first time being in bangkok. I would say we did manage to do some interesting activities and shopped through so many night markets. Love for the Osman Restaurant was huge and shout out for the halal Thai food.

At the end of 2017, I went to KL with another group of friends. That trip was really interesting as it was my first time travelling to KL with friends and we actually managed to do a lot of interesting stuffs and go to new places that I've never been to before. Overall I enjoyed it a lot!

In 2018, I went to 3 places Bangkok, South Korea and KL. Bangkok with my mum and sister. South Korea and KL (partial solo).

The best out of 2018 was definitely South Korea. This time with extra budget, we actually went to Busan and also a theme park which I didn't went to the first time I went there. Tried new stuffs and went to new places as well.

For the KL trip in 2018 was a bit of an incident at the start because my friend's passport actually doesn't have a 6 months validity in order to fly to KL. I was bumped out at first but at the same time I actually didn't want to waste my money since I won't get a refund so I just went on the flight without my friend. It was actually weird because my friend asked me to bring her bag in along when it wasn't even confirmed if she was going come after all. I was actually glad to be spending my first 1 and a half day solo and just had the entire apartment to myself and the rest of the trip went by like a blink of an eye.

2019 TRAVELS WAS THE BEST BECAUSE IT WAS EUROPE!!!! Europe was the best time of my life and especially since I was also living in Copenhagen for about 5 months. I travelled to 10 countries including Denmark too.

The main highlight for Europe was my 10 days solo trip which I went to Prague, Salzburg and Budapest. I was so so happy I made the trip happened and just had the best time exploring. I learnt so much about "the art of being alone" and became more brave to try out new things. :') Can't wait to be back in Europe again!!

This year was quite a bummer that my solo Grad trip didn't happen to Melbourne. I was actually quite looking forward to it and was just anticipating to travel solo again after enjoying the solo trip in Europe.

Travelling has really opened my eyes to a lot of new experiences and culture. I love learning about other cultures and just observing people from different countries in general and can't wait for the time that I can do that again.

Here's a quote from Mark Twain about travelling:

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” - Mark Twain

Indeed travel have reduced my narrow mindedness and how to be more accepting of other cultures and just get to know people in general.

List of Countries I've been to:

  1. Malaysia
  2. Indonesia
  3. Taiwan
  4. China
  5. Australia
  6. South Korea
  7. Thailand
  8. Denmark
  9. UK
  10. Switzerland
  11. Italy
  12. Hungary
  13. Czech Republic
  14. Austria
  15. Sweden
  16. Netherlands
  17. Germany

Here's to the future of travel and InsyaAllah I get to fulfil my wanderlust.
