book 4 of 2020: the year of less by Cait Flanders

This book came right in when I started something new in my life. That is my low buy journey. I'm struggling to start it off but I'm trying.

She talks about how she was addicted to buying clothes that she thought will make her feel good, but ended up not wearing them in the long run and just taking up space in her wardrobe. How she managed to pay off her loan with the money she now have by not spending and how she navigate life with the ups and downs.

It provided a guidance that I can follow as I go through my low buy journey. I really want to reduce my spending on unnecessary items and I just want to be better at handling my finances. So it was really a miracle that I went into the library just browsing for books in the non-fiction section and came across this.

Quotes from the book that I relate to or find significant:
The curse if being the eldest: you have to carry the weight of your younger siblings’ problems, as well as your own. They come to you for any reason. You don’t want to shelter them, but you want to protect them. You want to protect them from the confusion and the pain, so you carry theirs and yours. Only, nobody know you have your own confusion and pain. Nobody knows you’re hurting at all.

We couldn’t actually discover what we needed until we lived without it.

I think I should've reflected more on what I felt while reading the book. I really love the book and just hooked on it and read within a span of 1 week++. Which was quite fast for me because I take forever to finish reading books.

I would highly recommend this book for those wanting to go through the journey of low buy, living with less and how you can be happier with lesser.
